Sunrise Breakfast 2007 - Casting a Bright Light on Education!

Amarillo Education Foundation is sponsoring the 15th annual Sunrise Breakfast on Thursday, November 8, 2007. The event will be held in the Amarillo Club high above our city and promises a morning of a delightful breakfast and fantastic speakers. The morning will begin with a full breakfast buffet including an omelet station, followed by an update of our local district presented by Rod Schroeder, Superintendent for AISD. The keynote speaker for the breakfast will be Evelyn Husband, graduate of Amarillo High School, and wife of 20 years to the late Rick Husband, Commander of the space shuttle Columbia. Evelyn Husband lives with her two children, 17-year-old Laura and 11-year-old Matthew, in Houston Texas. Prior to Feb. 1, 2003, Evelyn was a self-described "ordinary stay-at-home-mom" who never imagined the extraordinary circumstances in which she would find herself.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I think what Rick and I did – how we lived our lives and raised our family – would become a national story," said Evelyn. "And honestly, I would give it all up to just have my husband and my old life back. But, I want to be faithful to how God wants to use this tragedy to bring hope to people."
